From December 2011 to April 2012 I will be working for the British Antarctic Survey (BAS) on Signy Island in the South Orkney Islands, Antarctica, on the penguin and seal long-term monitoring programme. From August 2008 to March 2011 I worked on the sub-Antarctic island of Bird Island (part of South Georgia), in the South Atlantic, as Zoological Field Assistant- on the penguin and giant petrel long-term monitoring programme and assisting with seal and albatross work.

The end of the adventure...
The gentoo penguins go about their daily life as the RSS.Ernest Shackleton arrives to take me home.
Good to meet you on Friday evening & hear first hand how you are getting on. & many thanks for your blog. I am unsure if you realise how important the different blogs are to the "folks back home", but they all add in to the overall picture & help us understand something of what life is like working down South. Best wishes for the future.
